Project overview

Council is undertaking broad community consultation for the development of the Clarence Plains Master Plan.

The Clarence Plains Master Plan will help guide future growth and development in the area and create a unified plan for the community’s future.

We are seeking community and key stakeholder feedback on what the future of Clarence Plains should look like and how council should plan for it.

Background

Clarence Plains has been identified as one of the fastest growing areas in Southern Tasmania.

Clarence City Council is planning for the growth of this region through the creation of a Clarence Plains Master Plan which will provide a dynamic long-term framework to guide future growth and development.

In order to plan for the future growth of this region Clarence City Council has engaged MODE and C Change Sustainable Solutions (C Change) to develop the Clarence Plains Master Plan.

The Clarence Plains Master Plan will build on the 2014 Master Plan for Rokeby and Clarendon Vale, commissioned by Mission Australia, and encompass the larger study area of Clarendon Vale, Glebe Hill, Rokeby and Oakdowns.

Some of the key objectives of The Clarence Plains Master Plan project include strategies for community development, identifying opportunities for improving and expanding housing stock, strategic directions for public open space and connectivity, infrastructure, and partnership opportunities.

Community consultation with key stakeholders including community groups, State Government bodies, education providers and Landcare groups has been undertaken during the first stage of consultation. This stage also included broader community engagement through council’s Your Say page.

Second stage of consultation asked for feedback from the community and stakeholders on the Draft Master Plan and included opportunities for face-to-face feedback as well as a further survey through Your Say.
