Project overview
We are developing a Glebe Hill Bushland Reserve Activity Plan 2021-2030, which seeks to build a shared responsibility among the community and landowners to support the management of priority cultural, social and natural values.
Background
The areas of interest include the council-managed 20 hectares bushland reserve, as well as the small patch of bushland (0.6 hectares) known as 15 Minno Street.
A map highlighting the areas of interest is included in the document library.
The broad objectives of the reserve activity planning process are to:
- Ensure the reserve is sustainably managed to preserve and enhance its natural, cultural and social values.
- Identify priority management activities to be undertaken with the reserve by council and/or volunteer groups as resources become available.
- Encourage community engagement through raising awareness of the reserve’s values and encourage participation in activities to minimise threats to these values.
Have your say
In the first engagement period for this project, we sought community feedback to help develop a draft plan. This key stakeholder consultation included a Walk and Talk session held in August 2020 and a short online survey. Community feedback received is tabled in the draft plan.
Recommendations incorporated in the draft plan include:
- Monitor and control texan needlegrass and crow garlic in reserve.
- Undertake further nature-based education projects with Howrah Primary School.
- Develop an indigenous interpretation program.
- Promote ‘dogs on lead’ area to protect native fauna.
- Continue monitoring native fauna species in the reserve.
- Maintain official mountain bike trails and close all informal trails.
- Assess and report on vegetation condition and bird population trends.
- Install track maps at all reserve entry points.
- Undertake primary weed control in Minno Street Reserve.
We are now seeking community feedback on the draft plan.
You can have your say by completing the survey below. Community feedback on the draft plan will be considered in finalising the draft plan, before being presented to council for endorsement.
