Open Space Strategy

Help shape the future of parks and open spaces in Clarence

Clarence City Council is developing an Open Space Strategy that will set out a 20-year plan for parks and reserves across the city.

'Open Spaces' are our parks, reserves, playgrounds and nature reserves in Clarence. We know these are important to our community for a variety of reasons, we also know they play a critical role in facilitating healthy and active living and connecting the community.

During September and October 2024, we are encouraging everyone in our community to take the Park Life survey to tell us how you use Clarence's parks and open spaces. This is the very first step in our information gathering and will lay the foundations for our Open Space Strategy, which will shape the way we plan and deliver open space for our community in the years to come.

We want to hear from as many people across Clarence as possible about whether you currently spend time in our open spaces or not. There are a number of ways to get involved.

Park Life Survey

Park Life is a national survey developed by researchers at the University of Western Australia. We're partnering with Park Life to compare information about Clarence's open space with data gathered from over 9,000 responses across Australia.

The survey will take about 8 - 10 minutes to complete ask questions about:

  • which parks you visit
  • why do you visit them and
  • the benefits you get from using parks.

It also collects information on your physical, social, and mental well-being to help us better understand the health benefits associated with parks and outdoor spaces.

All answers you give will be anonymous, and confidential, and will only be reported or published as a group. All survey answers are voluntary, and you can skip any questions or withdraw anytime after starting.
